Amy’s Dance Bio:

As a former pre-professional classical ballet dancer, Amy Waddle is all too familiar with the pressures dancers face on a daily basis. She studied dance at the Virginia School of the Arts in Lynchburg, Va. under Jan Petrus Bosman from the Royal Ballet. After a career ending spinal injury in 1994, she developed bulimia, and battled her eating disorder for almost two decades. With determination, Amy pursued recovery and created a place for herself as an eating disorder recovery advocate for dancers, and started her own non-profit Dancing With ED, Inc. in 2013.

Now Amy is Dancing In Recovery by sharing her story in hopes to motivate and inspire dancers to love, and care for their bodies and know, “you don’t have to dance through this alone.”

Her work includes motivational speaking, and educational workshops at dance studios, colleges and high schools. She is also passionate about suicide prevention and is honored to be a part of:

The Suicide Prevention Council of San Luis Obispo, National Alliance on Mental Illness, Stamp Out Stigma Speakers Bureau for Transition Mental Health Association, Ending the Silence Lead Presenter.
